It was only a matter of time until the guys over at iFixit got their hands on an Apple iPhone 4S to complete a teardown and some of their findings are what we expected while others may be disappointing.
The Apple iPhone 4S does indeed have the dual-core A5 processor that was first used in the iPad 2. They have the processor speed listed at 1GHz while prior reports said the processor was clocked at only 800MHz. When that word broke it was a little disappointing for some despite early tests showing that the iPhone 4S does indeed stack up with the competition in terms of speed.
Another rumor that many dreaded is in fact true as the iPhone 4S only has 512MB of RAM in a time when anything less than 1GB is unheard of for top of the line equipment. However, until Apple releases a version of iOS that features true multitasking, no more than 512MB of RAM may be needed.
In terms of overall repairability using there scale of 1-10 where 10 is the easiest, they gave the iPhone 4S a 6. Very little has changed overall from the iPhone 4 in terms of appearance, inside and out. Check out the full teardown and tell us what you think.
