Right after we heard about the impressive 30 million sales of the Samsung Galaxy S and S II combined, Apple has announced that it’s sold 4 million iPhone 4Ss in the opening weekend alone. The iPhone 4S launched on Friday at Apple Stores, carriers and other retailers like Best Buy.
“iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend—the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days,” Apple’s senior VP of Marketing, Phil Schiller, said. “iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever.”
AT&T and Sprint reported record sales on Friday when the 4S launched nationwide.
At the same time, over 25 million people are now using iOS 5, the latest version of Apple’s mobile platform with reworked notifications and added services. 20 million have already signed up for iCloud, which is in the core of the new version of the platform.
The new iPhone 4S is already available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK, and will arrive to 22 countries on October 28 and over 70 more by the end of 2011.
