Samsung said today that it has sold 30 million copies combined of the Samsung Galaxy S and the Samsung Galaxy S II. The former, with nearly 20 million copies sold, is the best selling mobile device in Samsung history while the latter reached 10 million units sold faster than any mobile device in the history of the Korean based manufacturer.
J.K. Shin, President of Samsung's Mobile Communication Business said, "Since its launch only five months ago, GALAXY SII has seen tremendous sales success and garnered enthusiastic reviews from consumers and mobile industry watchers across the globe. This is in addition to the continued sales momentum behind GALAXY S, which we launched at CTIA 2010 as continues to be a run-away success with consumers," and added, "The phenomenal success of these smartphones once again demonstrates how the GALAXY S smartphones is setting the standard for smart mobile technology around the world."
The Samsung Galaxy S II continues to sell well as the company's flagship handset is available now on three of the top four mobile operators in the States. Of the top four carriers, only Verizon has decided to pass up on the model. Instead, it is expected to be the first carrier to offer the Samsung GALAXY Nexus, the handset that debuts Android 4.0, some time later this year-most likely next month.
