Android Market update adds support for devices with unofficial market app
Rejoice, Kindle Fire owners (and the rest of you who have an Android tablet with no official Market application) - Google has rolled out an update to the Android Market enabling support for devices with the unofficial Market app. So now when you install the Market on such a device, you can see it from the Amazon Market website.

Ultimately, this means that your Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet or Coby tablet will now easily accept official Market apps.

This was one of the annoying issues with cheaper tablets - they didn’t have access to Android’s vast library of applications. The application store was only limited to higher-end tablet models, but that didn’t quite fit Google’s open source paradigm anyway and it’s nice to see this addressed.

There’s one slight downside, though - the Market also seems to recognize apps previously installed from other, non-Market sources. It then tries to update them, but since they’re not properly signed it can’t. Overall, this seems like a step in the right direction, but there’s still path for growth when it comes to Android handling multiple app stores.
