Apple loses lawsuit against Spanish Android tablet maker

Now here we have a case of David and Goliath in as much as Goliath Apple sued a small Spanish tablet maker last year claiming the company copied the design of the Apple iPad, yeah right where have we all heard that before? Anyway this time round it appears that the iOS giant hasn’t got its own way for once.

According to the guys over at Phone Arena by way of FOSS Patents, Spanish tablet maker NT-K defended themselves in court and beat Apple by proving that their slate didn’t infringe on any of Apple’s patents.

The NT-K tablet in question was the Android based NT-K Pad A91, that packs a 7-inch display, 1GHz A8 Cortex TI OMAP processor, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 4GB or 8GB internal storage depending on model, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, WiFi, 3.5mm jack, miniUSB and USB 2.0.

So now that the smaller guy and been successful against the bigger guy, no doubt annoying Apple considerably, the Spanish firm has now counter sued Apple accusing the fruity firm of anti-competitive behaviour, and has also apparently filed another suit demanding “moral damages” and monetary compensation due to loss of profits.

So Apple finally loses a lawsuit over the usual “looks like the Apple iPad” claim, and just goes to show that you don’t have to be a giant in the tablet space to take on the likes of Apple. Apparently other small companies received similar treatment from the Cupertino company, but gave in.
