Verizon announced with a TV ad last night that the Motorola Droid RAZR will be introduced next week, on the memorable date of 11-11-11. This super-slim Android smartphone will have a wide array of features, including a large display and dual-core processor. According to the TV ad, it is going to be introduced next Friday. Verizon's YouTube channel gets even more specific, stating that the device is "Arriving 11.11.11. 11:11AM".
Motorola Droid RAZR Overview:
This device will boast a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass. On the inside will be a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, and a microSD card slot. It is going to debut running Android OS 2.3, but Motorola has already committed to an upgrade to Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
The Droid RAZR will feature an 8MP rear-facing camera capable of 1080p HD video, as well as LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and an 1,800mAh battery. Motorola also built Webtop compatibility into the design. The name of this device harks back to the original RAZR, a slim handset that was Motorola's best-selling model years ago. The upcoming smartphone will be an aluminum-accented device that's 0.28 inches (7.1 mm) thick. Verizon is already taking pre-orders for the Motorola Droid RAZR, and is going to charge $300 for it. Other carriers outside of the U.S. will be offering it too, under the name Motorola RAZR.
