Motorola Mobility and NII Holdings to continue Handset Supply Agreement


Motorola has agreed to supply iDEN handsets to NII Holdings till 2014, as part of a bilateral agreement between the two parties furthering continuing commitment to iDEN technology as a leading push to talk service in the Latin American region.
The partnership between Motorola and NII Holdings (that operates under the brand NEXTEL) has been providing reliable, high quality service to the Latin American region comprising Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru for the past 14 years. Push to Talk functionality continues to be a primary mode of instant communication for millions in the Latin American region, and this partnership between Motorola and NII Holdings would mean continuing fast, flexible and affordable service further along. Handsets, devices and accessories like the Motorola XOOM tablet that would support NIIs next-generation networks including PTT and 3G are also covered under the agreement.Motorola Mobility’s expertise in iDEN technology is well evident from the devices manufactured that utilize the PTT platform for nearly two decades. Consumers can expect further innovative handsets for their communication needs that support iDEN from the manufacturer with speedily expanding iDEN market.
