China Mobile is getting a seriously souped up version of the Motorola DROID RAZR, called uninspiringly the Motorola MT917. Behind the modest title, however, is hiding a handset not quite RAZR-thin, at 0.34" (8.5mm), but with quite the specs list.
While the silicon seems to have stayed the same - 1.2GHz TI OMAP4430 dual-core processor - the screen and camera have received a makeover. The display is now 4.5", still of the Super AMOLED Advanced variety with PenTile, but the resolution is 720x1280 pixels, so this means we have an even bigger 330ppi pixel density than on the 4.65" HD Super AMOLED of the Galaxy Nexus for example.
The camera has also received a boost from 8MP to 13MP, but we are not really sold on this one, until some sample shots are made for comparison. Hopefully Moto will be graceful enough to unleash this monster on the whole wide world at a future time, but for now it is strictly meant for China Mobile, its 600+ million subscribers and unorthodox TD-SCDMA network tech, starting mid-December.
i like this one MT917 better. MT928 is square.
