HTC Radar 4G quickly goes for half the cost at $49.99 on-contract thanks to Wirefly

Well people, today is finally the big day if you've been starving for a Windows Phone, since you can travel to your local T-Mobile retail store and purchase the very first “4G” enabled and Mango packed Windows Phone in the HTC Radar 4G. At $99.99 with a 2-year contract, the price is indeed fitting for its caliber, but if that’s not simply enough for your wallet, you might want to check out the offering that Wirefly has for the smartphone.

Whether you’re a new customer signing on for service or an existing loyal one with a qualified upgrade available, you can go to Wirefly’s web site and buy the Mango flavored smartphone for the easier to swallow price tag of $49.99. Sporting a price point that’s half the cost to what T-Mobile is asking for from its customers, it’s easily a no-brainer decision to snatch at the opportunity of picking up this handset right now – especially when it’s launch day.

However, if you’re basically in the market to buy it outright, just bear in mind that Wirefly is asking $439.99 for the handset. In any event, free standard shipping via FedEx is included with the purchase – making the cost for the device your sole priority.

HTC Radar Hands-On and First Look:

HTC Radar the Stylish new Phone

The HTC Radar seems like an evolution of the HTC Trophy, and comes complete with Windows Phone 7 Mango to boot. Decked out in an almost all-aluminium chassis, the Radar is a slightly chunkier device compared to the HTC Titan, and has a more rounded and polished feel to it. Let’s take a more detailed look.
HTC Radar does get a boost over the Mozart and Trophy, but it is pretty mediocre in terms of specs. You'll get the same Qualcomm MSM 8255 1GHz processor from last year and 512MB of RAM to power it. It is not as fast or as nippy as the HTC Titan with its 1.5Ghz processor.
The HTC Radar comes with a HTC's 5 megapixel camera with 28mm lens F/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The front has a VGA forward-facing camera so you will be able to make video calls when Skype makes its inevitable arrival on the Windows Phone platform
The new HTC Radar comes with Windows Phone 7.5, which was codenamed Mango. It offers over 500 new features over the previous version of Windows Phone 7 and that’s very much welcomed.
A middle of the road phone that we're fully nonplussed about - let's hope there's more to come for Windows Phone soon, or its claim to become a front running OS in the next few years is going to be wide of the mark.
