Micromax mobiles has launched their new phone M2. Its a Dual SIM GSM music phone with dedicated music keys. SRS WOW HD sound, built in Yamaha Audio Amplifier and support
The brand mciromax is constantly introducing some new phone to the different generations of users. It has introduced itself in the android market as well with the release of the micromax A60. What new thing has it brought for the music lovers M2 is the reply from Micromax. So lets have a look is this phone for a true music lover or will it disappoint another time as it did for the A60. So lets have a detailed look at the micromax M2 and lets see what are the chances of it being hit in the market
Lets have a look at the design of the phone the phone looks quite sleek and also stylish. The body has the matte-gray finish, while the keys and the battery cover are given the black finish. With the first look the m2 does looks impressive. The buttons are also quite good, let’s have a look if there is any dedicated volume buttons for controlling the volume and the answer is no. there is no separate volume button in the phone and hence you will have to control the volume from the music player itself. The camera and the speakers are placed in the back of the phone. So overall the design of the phone is quite simple and descent but the absence of the volume keys is a bad thing. Now its time to test, what this phone has actually got in it. Firstly lets test the memory any music lover would love to see the memory of the phone as he/she would actually want to store as many music files in it as possible. So lets see if this phone has that much memory. No, the phone disappoints here the phone does not have a good memory. With the absence of the expandable memory slot the phone fails heavily here. It only has the limited internal memory of 2 GB. So the limitation of the size is encountered here only. Lets see if the interface of the music player is user friendly or not. Again the micromax fails to impress here it does not have a good playlist interface and hence it becomes increasingly difficult to search for any song plus the absence of the volume key buttons does add to the misery.
The positive side of the phone is the click wheel, let me tell you that the click wheel is quite responsive much like all the buttons of the phone. They all are quite responsive in nature. Doing a clock-wise swipe on the click wheel will allow you to navigate the menu icons on the right and on doing a anti-clockwise swipe will move the opposite. So it proves very good especially during navigation. One more plus point is that this phone is a dual sim phone with the hot-swappable feature in which there is no need to remove the battery of the phone while you are removing the sim card. The phone scores well here. However if we want to remove the battery placing it back again is a very tedious task as we have to follow the exact instructions that are given in the manual. Let’s have a talk about the camera of the phone. The camera of the phone is quite descent with 2 megapixel camera given at the price range the camera is quite good and also the image quality. However talking about the video recording with the 320 x 240 video capture resolutions the camera fails miserably here. The camera also fails to deliver anything in the low light mode the clarity is not there at all. The video quality is quite poor here. So once again micromax fails to score here. Here is a small example of the image quality. Do look at the image below. Well there is nothing much to talk about the connectivity as it only has the Bluetooth as well as the gprs support. The battery is also quite descent. The phone is available at Rs.4500 in the Indian market. The overall thing that I found in the phone is that it does not deliver much with the price it is being launched in the market. Some other phone that is being launched in the same price range is nokia x2-01 and it is much better than the micromax m2. So overall I felt the phone should be rated 2.5 on a scale of 5. It does not deserve more than that but the dual sim capability and also good sound output did save the day.
