Motorola XPRT (Sprint)

Sprint has just announced a new addition to its business oriented line of smartphones, the new Motorola XPRT Android smartphone. Claiming to be the first Android phone in Sprint's line-up with enterprise class security features, the XPRT has global-roaming capabilities with a dual-mode CDMA/GSM chipse Despite a few shortcomings, the Motorola XPRT is a great alternative to the BlackBerry because of its enterprise-level features and globe-trotting capabilities.

It's common for phones to debut on one carrier and then appear on another carrier under a different name. That's exactly what Motorola has done with the XPRT--it's essentially the Motorola Droid Pro, but with Sprint branding. And that's not a bad thing; the XPRT offers a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch screen, plus it has enhanced security features that should please most enterprise-conscious users. The XPRT is also Sprint's first Android-based world phone, meaning it can work on both CDMA and GSM bands. The Motorola XPRT ships with Android 2.2 and is available for $129.99 after a two-year service agreement. The XPRT is also capable of roaming globally, and features a 5 megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash. Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support are present as well. A large 1860mAh battery should power the XPRT through a whole day, though Sprint has not released any expected battery claims.

The Motorola XPRT is due to hit shelves on June 5, and will cost $129.99 with a new two-year agreement.
