Google’s Android Hits 50 Percent Of Smartphone Market Share


Google’s Android OS continues to flourish and and according to a recent report from Gartner, last quarter of 2011, the Android has reached 50.9 percent of all smartphone sales worldwide.

Second place goes to Apple’s iOS with a share of 23.8 percent, while the third place goes to Symbian with an 11.7 percent share. The fourth place is RIM and their BlackBerry OS which had an 8.8 percent share of the market. According to recent reports there were a total of 75 million Android smart phones and other devices sold in the last quarter of 2011, while Apple has a total of 35 million iPhone units sold.
