Future Nokia Windows Phones To Come With ST-Ericsson Chips

It looks like Nokia has decided to use another manufacturer as well as Qualcomm for its Nokia Windows Phone devices, as ST-Ericsson has announced a partnership with Nokia for future Windows Phone smartphones. Some of Nokia’s future Windows Phone devices will use ST Ericsson’s NovaThor platform which consists of dual core processors, there are three chips in the platform at the moment, the U8500, U5500 and the flagship U9500.

“We are pleased to have been selected by Nokia as a key partner for Windows smartphones, in line with our goal to be present in all segments and major operating systems,” said Gilles Delfassy, president and CEO of ST-Ericsson. “Our NovaThor platforms continue to gain traction as they enable customers to bring great smartphones to the market.”

We can probably expect to see the first Nokia Windows Phone devices using ST-Ericsson’s dual core platform launch some time next year.
