Ever since the much awaited final version of iOS 5 was released to the general public, a large number of iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone users who have updated their device to the latest software update have reported noticeably worse battery life on their iOS devices after updating. And now, unexpectedly, the Cupertino, California-based Apple has seeded the iOS 5.0.1beta to its registered iOS app developers. This new software update on iOS firmware is said to fix numerous bugs that was discovered on the final version of the iOS 5 and it is packed with necessary bugs fixes and performance enhancements.Aside from addressing the battery life issue on iOS 5-based devices, apple has also includes a fix for the iPhone 4S battery and dictation issue (specifically for Australian users who are using the new Siri), the iPad 2 smart cover security flaw (could be hacked using the iPad 2 smart cover or any magnet), and added a multitasking gestures for the first gen iPad. The complete release note of the iOS 5.0.1 is posted below:

Additionally, Apple has also released the iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 to developers and i t is packed with number of bug fixes and the new iTunes Match. Sad to say but iTunes Match still isn’t available to the public and it is currently available for Apple TV users.
On the other hand, if you are currently rocking a jailbroken iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, then I am pretty sure that you will be glad to know that the iOS 5.0.1 beta can be jailbroken using the Redsn0w 0.9.9b7, which is available for both Mac OS X and Windows. MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team confirmed it via tweet. The trick is you have to point Redsn0w 0.9.9 b7 to the stock iOS 5 IPSW file instead to the new iOS 5.0.1. The iOS 5.0.1 is compatible for the iPhone 4 (GSM and CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and iPhone 4S.
Stay tuned for more info!
Update: the iPhone Dev Team already has just released the new Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 to tethered jailbreak iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch running on the new iOS 5.0.1. iH8sn0w has also updated its Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool and released the new Sn0wbreeze v2.8b9 for Windows to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1.
