The Firecore dev team already launches the latest version of SeasonPass jailbreak tool to jailbreak the recently released iOS 4.3 on AppleTV 2G. If you aren’t aware, this new jailbreaking tool, just like PwnageTool fr Mac OS X and Sn0wbreeze 2.2 for Windows, has a capability to create a custom IPSW / firmware for iOS 4.2.1 that you can restore through iTunes. The process of creating custom firmware using PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze is quite similar to the process of creating custom firmware using Seas0nPass.Note that you will need to have a micro USB cable to jailbreak and a tethered boot AppleTV since the iOS 4.2.1 is tethered jailbreak. How to Jailbreak AppleTV 2G using Seas0nPass:
STEP 1: Download Seas0nPass software jailbreak tool for your Windows using this download link, http://files.firecore.com/SP/Seas0nPass-win.zip
STEP 2: Once download completed simple extract the ‘Seas0nPass.zip’ file and then double click the file to launch Seas0nPass
STEP 3: Now you have to click the ‘Create IPSW’ from the main screen
STEP 4: Now Seas0nPass will automatically download the latest version AppleTV firmware file and it will be used to create a custom ‘jailbroken’ software file
STEP 5: Once your custom IPSW file has been created, the app will ask you to connect your AppleTV 2G to your computer using a micro-USB cable and then use the remote to put your device into DFU mode. Just simply hold MENU and PLAY / PAUSE buttons for exactly seven seconds. Note that the power cable should be unplugged when you perform this process.
STEP 6: Once you successfully put your AppleTV 2G into DFU mode, Seas0nPass will automatically upload some files as well as launch iTunes to start the restoring process to the new firmware
STEP 7: iTunes will confirm the restore and you’re. You now have a jailbroken AppleTV 2G.
How to Tethered Boot on AppleTV 2G:
As mentioned earlier, iOS 4.2.1 is a tethered jailbreak. Meaning, you will lose the jailbreak every time you powered off or reboot your AppleTV.
Step 1: Double click the Seas0nPass icon to launch the application
Step 2: then on the main screen select Boot Tethered.
Step 3: Connect the Apple TV to the computer via USB, plug it into the power outlet, and put it into DFU mode by holding the MENU and PLAY/PAUSE button of the AppleTV remote at the same for exactly seven seconds
Step 4: Seas0nPass will detect the device in DFU mode and begin the boot process.
Step 5: Once the tethered boot is complete you can remove USB cable and connect the HDMI cable to your jailbroken AppleTV
