An Alternative To Cydia Called The iTweak Store

Jailbreaking is now even more popular than ever and today we want to tell you about a web based alternative to Cydia called the iTweak Store. For the last number of years, Cydia has been the cream of the crop when it comes to jailbreak device apps, themes and more. The Cydia icon has become the visual indication that a device has been jailbroken with all jailbreak tools installing Cydia as part of the process. Are you ready for some competition?

Whenever a developer wants to package a tweak for sale or download the only real option that they have is to make it available via the Cydia store. There are some alternatives like hosting the file themselves but because Cydia has such a large following it doesn't make sense to do this. So there really isn't any competition to Cydia. This could all be about to change though thanks to a new service called iTweak. This is a web site that is offering tweaks and applications for jailbroken devices.

Itweak is a web based service and it looks likely that users will be able to download any hosted packages directly to their device. This will allow them to take advantage of the usual things we have come to expect like unique user logins and account management facilities. The iTweak service is being developed by @roktheworld27 and @mtamermahoney and the small piece of information that is available on the home page says that iTweak is one of the best places to get all your tweaks, themes, utilities and more on your jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The home page also states that they serve as an alternative to Cydia and the Apple App Store.

The iTweak home page looks and feels like a native application and users can navigate directly to the new and updated packages as well as the usual things like terms or service. There isn't really that much information available about payment methods as yet but we assume that paypal will be available. The iTweak service sounds like a great idea but the problem that they are going to have initially is convincing developers to list their packages on an unknown and untested service when they could be hosting them on Cydia which is well established. Add to that the fact that various web services have popped up in the past which have failed and it will take a lot of convincing.

Plugication For iPhone Makes Music Resume Playback When Headphones Are Plugged In

jailbreakers are always on the lookout for great new tweaks and modifications that they can add to their idevice. The best modifications from the Cydia store are the ones that are thought through properly, are there to solve a problem or enhance a users experience and are given a professional level of completion before being distributed. One such tweak which is relatively unknown in Cydia is Plugication.

Plugication is a tweak that looks at addressing a problem that Apple haven't thought to rectify as yet or perhaps they have chosen to ignore it. If you are an iDevice user you are well aware of the fact that once you remove your headphones from the device you music stops playing immediately which is quite annoying at times. Plugication works to reverse this by recognizing when the headphones have been plugged back in and then automatically resuming music playback through the chosen music application. Plugication is compatible with multiple music applications including Spotify and it is also very simple to use with some nice settings added too. You can also toggle this app on and off whenever you like.

Plugication is available to download free of charge on the ModMyi repository and in order to download it you have to a jailbroken idevice.

Launch Your Favorite Apps From The Lockscreen With AppSlider

Apple recently announced that the twenty fifth billionth app has been downloaded from their official App Store confirming that their app store is the biggest on the mobile planet. This does show that iOS users are active in the App Store it also reminded us that we should mention the unofficial Cydia Store which also has impressive numbers. Cydia is home to some really great third-party tweaks and modifications for jailbroken iOS devices and more are being added daily.

One of the latest Tweaks is called AppSlider and this was created by developer Ron Melkhior. This tweak makes modifications to either side of the slide to unlock graphic on the idevice's lockscreen. This is perfect for anyone who has one or two applications that they use all the time. Twitter users can have Twitter located on the lockscreen giving them quick launch access without having to unlock first.

The AppSlider tweak really just gives users the ability to launch custom applications from their lockscreen and it does this by adding the chosen applications to both sides of the slider. This tweak has its own preferences panel which can be found in the setting application and this is where you can choose your two lockscreen applications from. You can toggle this tweak on and off through the setting panel which is also great. AppSlider is a very simple and very powerful tweak and it will definitely appeal to iPhone users who have a couple of apps that they use all the time. For security conscious people you will be happy to hear that the AppSlider tweak respects the passcode lock setting so if you have a passcode lock set through your settings app, the numeric keypad will still be presented when the application is tapped which will require the correct password before proceeding into the app itself. AppSlider is available from the BigBoss repository and it is free to download. You will need to be running iOS 5 and have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch.

Swipe For Mail – The New Way to View Your Email

Swipe for mail allows users to swipe left or right to see their next or previous emails in the Mail app. This is another app made available for jailbroken iDevices. According to Cydia, Swipe for Mail adds the ability to swipe left or right in Mail.app to retrieve the previous or next email. No icons are added to your home screen or settings and there are no options to configure either.

We tested the Swipe for Mail tweak on a jailbroken iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 and we can confirm that it works just as advertised. It might be a small tweak but we feel that it is a very useful tweak which makes reading email a more pleasant experience and it saves you plenty of time. If you are one of the few who prefer tapping their screen this might not be the tweak for you as it involves swiping. It is however a great simple tweak that you can add to your jailbroken iPhone or iDevice that uses the Mail.app.

You will of course need to have a jailbroken device to install this tweak and if you need help jailbreaking the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 you can use Absinthe. If you have the iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1 and iPod Touch you can use Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. Swipe for Mail can be downloaded for free from Cydia under ModMyi repo which is included by default.

Sent Tweets Via Siri With Assitant Extensions

Assistant Extensions is a great new tweak that will allow you to open apps, send tweets and more via Siri. There are more and more tweaks released via Cydia every they and these allow jailbroken iDevices to get the most out of their devices. You could say that jailbreaks actually allow iOS to run the way it always should have run.

Since the release of the untethered jailbreak for A5 devices there have been more and more Siri tweaks released. Apple's voice recognition software has been the centre of so many developers attention since it launched with the iPhone 4S last October. Jailbreaking allows using to enjoy some great Siri perks and these include allowing simple SBSettings-like commands to be activated using Siri. There are many more Siri tweaks including SiriToggles and the soon to be released Sireet which will allow users to send Tweets using Siri.

AssitantExtensions has been released however and this allows users to send Tweets, activate SBSettings toggles and open various different apps without having to touch your screeen. This new tweak is available free of charge from the BigBoss repository. If you have SiriToggles the developer of AssitantExtensions does recommend that you remove it even though no conflicts between the two have been reported. The features of AssitantExtensions do however supersede SiriToggles so you won't need it anyway. If you plan on downloading AssitantExtensions you will need a jailbroken iPhone and there are plenty of tools that you can use to do this including Absinthe, Sn0wbreeze and more.

Two New Siri Related iPhone 4S Commercials Released By Apple

Apple have released two new thirty second commercials in their next step in promoting Siri, the headline feature of the iPhone 4S. The first of these commercials centres around a Road Trip and features the integration of Siri with the Maps application, location services, Yelp and it also demonstrates the intelligent voice assistant's ability to give on the fly directions to a specifically requested location.

The second commercial focuses on a young music lover and pays attention to how Siri can display musical notes to help the young musician learn new skills as well as composing a text message from spoken words to the other band members. This commercial shows Siri's use of the Wolfram-Alpha service to pull up search results and it also shows how users can program their own nickname into Siri.

Apple products such as the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad have changed the way we think about consumer technology and they have also dramatically enhanced the way some people actually live their lives. The iPhone and iPod touch brough such technologies as FaceTime which allows people to connect to their loved ones via video entirely free of charge once they are connected to a Wi-Fi network. The iPad also comes with FaceTime capabilities but it is also about to play a pivotal role in reinventing educational standards across the United States. It is also used quite extensively in the medical and aviation industries to enhance professional standards.

Apple's products may be amazing but their success is all down to their ability to market them. Apple knows how to market perfectly using effective visual campaigns, simple and immediately recognizable television commercials and perfect product placement strategies. They engage with their audience and encourage sales. Both of the new Apple commercials follow a familiar pattern and they are simplistic whilst still focusing entirely on the product they are attempting to promote. They invoke an emotional reaction and they demonstrate how the iPhone 4S and Siri work in real world situations and how they can easily be integrated into daily life.

The TweetLine Tweak For iPhone Uses Siri To Let You See Your Twitter Timeline

When iOS 5 was first introduced back in October 2011, it was evident to many that it contained a number of really useful features which quickly became the focus of the jailbreaking development community. The notification centre was one of these but the real feature that developers were chomping to get their teeth into was Siri and this came with iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S. It is the intelligent voice assistant that has been built in.

Siri is exclusive to the iPhone 4S hardware and due to the initial lack of a jailbreak for A5 powered devices running on iOS 5 it was difficult for developers to create and test any Siri based tweaks. The release of Absinthe has change all this. Absinthe provides an untethered jailbreak for all A5 devices which in turn has opened the gates for Siri enhancements.

One of the latest tweaks to use the functionality of Siri is called TweetLine. This is an AssistantExtensions plugin which provides Twitter integration through the registered Twitter account in the setting application. By activating Siri through the normal method and giving the spoken command “timeline”, the TweetLine tweak forces Siri to display the latest five tweets from your Twitter timeline. TweetLine has been built on the AssistantExtensions tweak which allows developers to quickly and efficiently develop enhancements for Siri.

TweetLine displays your last five tweets in plain text but usernames and any links are redundant. This tweak could prove useful if you want to quickly check your timeline but other than that there isn't much that it can do. TweetLine is available free of charge through the ModMyi repository and requires a Siri enabled device with a registered Twitter account. You also need to have a jailbroken iPhone 4S.

Sara Is The Latest Siri Clone That Works On All iOS Devices

Siri has always been of interest to developers and this escalated with the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 in December 2011 and the release of the A5 Absinthe jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 in January. Up until now the best way to install Siri on an unsupported device has been Spire which was released in December 2011. That is all about to change with the introduction of Sara.

Spire is easy to set up and requires users to connect to a proxy server in order for the various commands to be answered by Apple's pocket slave. It was only a matter of time before more Siri alternatives became available and a Vietnamese Dev Team has produced a more advanced tool which goes by the name of Sara. This free voice recognition utility takes things a little further than merely setting reminders or driving users crazy with nonsensical conversation and it also appears to be much more versatile.

It has been described by its creators as having an open brain allowing those in the know to create plugins for special commands. Right now the feature set is still impressive and you can scan barcodes or QR codes. The most encouraging thing about Sara is that is works in a variety of countries and it has 37 languages. If you want to get your hands on Sara you will need to have a jailbroken iPhone and you will find it in Cydia.

Unlock iPhone, Jailbreak iPhone and iPhone Unlocking What's Different - iPad 3 Leaked Parts Have Been Compared With The iPad 2

The iPad 3 is getting closer and iPad 3 leaked parts have been compared with iPad 2 parts and the findings show a slightly thicker profile, bigger battery, bigger retina display and high resolution camera. It is just a matter of weeks before the iPad 3 event if rumors are to be believed and to add fuel to the fire it seems that iPad 3 parts and components have been leaked and if this is correct they reveal some interesting information about the brand new iPad 3 device.

This news came from the folks over at 9to5Mac in the form of a report in which they cite a post over on ilab.cc which is full of photos of some of the iPad 3's leaked components. The back panel suggests that the iPad 3 will be about 10mm thick which is 1mm thicker than the iPad 2 and this is supposedly due to the newer more powerful components such as a larger camera sensor, bigger battery and thicker dual LEB backlit LCD panel. Ilab.cc compared one of the rumored sharp high resolution LDC panels and found that it fits absolutely perfectly with the leaked iPad 3 back plate.

That's not all, the iPad 3's camera hole is different to the iPad 2 design and this suggests that the iPad 3 may just come with a more respectable rear camera too. The results of this iPad 3 component leak study match perfectly with the rumored hardware specifications which are a longer lasting battery, a 2048x1536 9.7” retina display and better camera sensors to match the higher resolution. It isn't clear as yet if there will be a quad core A6 or just a faster more efficient dual core A5. According to latest reports the iPad 3 is set to be announced in the first week of March at Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco.

Jailbreaking To Become Illegal Again

In July 2010 the United States government ruled that jailbreaking and the unlocking of Apple iphones was deemed to be a legal act as long as the process wasn't being carried out with the intention of circumventing copyright. This ruling was a major blow for Apple especially as they had invested so much time and money into making their devices and their operating systems as secure as possible. Apple has always been a public advocate for making jailbreaking an unlawful act.

Apple released a short statement at the time that stated that whilst jailbreaking would be officially legal it would still void any official Apple warranties. Apple also stated that their goal was to insure that customers have a great experience with their iPhone and that jailbreaking could severely degrade the experience.

Last week we saw that the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is lobbying for users to add their electronic voice to a petition which aims to ask the United States Government to declare once again that jailbreaking an iPhone does not violate the DMCA. The EFF are asking for this initial exemption, which is set to expire to be extended to cover tablet devices such as the Apple iPad which is not currently covered in the original ruling.

Charlie Miller who is an iOS developer is an advocate for this change and he has been alerting his Twitter followers to the petition and directing them to the EFF website where they can add their voice. A recent Tweet by Charlie Miller makes a plea for users to sign the online petition to help keep jailbreaking legal and to add the iPad to the ruling.

A lot of people were under the illusion that the ruling was permanent and that no further action is needed but Miller has been quick to point out that this is not the case. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is due to expire and according to statistics, the new Absinthe jailbreak tool which is being downloaded by so many shows that jailbreaking is still extremely popular and the jailbreaking community is thriving and expanding. A growing number of software developers now make a living from selling their software and tweaks on Cydia.

It really is important to have your voice heard and if you want to sign the petition all you have to do is visit the Electronic Frontier Foundation website and send your comment to the Copyright Office. Comments must be received by the 10th of February 2012.THE REST OF THE POST HERE (between these two SPAN`s, so dont edit them.) or delete them. Jailbreaking to be illegal again?!?!

Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5 Now Works On iOS 5.0.1

Last week you may have heard about iOS developer and hacker Pod2g’s new untethered jailbreak exploit that ran on iOS 5. This was tested using a third generation iPod Touch running iOS 5.0 and he wasn’t sure if it would work on the new iOS 5.0.1 as well. He did say however that he would test it on iOS 5.0.1 and report back with his results.

Well the wait is over and we can confirm that after testing the exploit on his iPhone 4 running the latest iOS 5.0.1 firmware, he has confirmed via Twitter that it is working. This ultimately means that you can now update your iOS device to iOS 5.0.1 and still jailbreak it. If you are an iPhone owner who relies on Ultrasn0w for your unlock you are advised against upgrading to preserve your old baseband. Here’s what Pod2g has to say on his twitter account: Got an untethered iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. Feel free to update.

This is great news for anyone who accidentally updated to iOS 5.0.1 only to find that they were locked out on the new firmware with no way to downgrade to iOS 5.0. It is important to note that so far the exploit has only been confirmed working on A4 based devices and below like the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G and 3G, Apple TV and the first generation iPad. There has been no confirmation as yet as to whether this will work on A5 based devices such as the new iPhone 4S or the iPad 2.

Currently there is only a semi-tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 and you can choose from either Redsn0w, Ac1dsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. If this new jailbreak works untethered then this really is great news.

Seas0nPass Lets You Jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.4

If you are looking to jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.4 you can now do so using Seas0nPass for Windows and Mac. Apple released a firmware update for the Apple TV device which has fixed a number of bugs and as with all firmware updates many users have been looking for information about a potential jailbreak.

Seas0nPass is a utility much like the Pwnage Tool which has been designed specifically for the 2nd generation Apple TV and this will now help users to jailbreak and boot Apple TV. Seas0nPass allows users to create custom firmware files for the Apple TV which renders this jailbreak process very easy and simple to do. There are plenty of great tutorials that will show you how to successfully jailbreak Apple TV.

The Seas0nPass jailbreak is a tethered jailbreak and this means that you need to manually put your Apple TV into a jailbroken state every time you turn it off. The jailbreak does however allow for a little more freedom and usability than Apple would like and it also opens the doors to some great new possibilities too. You can even turn your Apple TV into your very own web server to running XBMC.

The Seas0nPass is not like jailbreaks for touch based devices and there is no Cydia or tweaks available to enhance the users experience. That being said however, it is a worthwhile venture and makes Apple TV a little more interesting. Apple TV costs you just $99 and it is a really cheap and compact device that does a really good job. If you have Apple TV and you are looking to jailbreak it then now you can with Seas0nPass.

How Corona Untethered Jailbreak Works For iOS 5.0.1

Corona is an untethered jailbreak that works on iOS 5.0.1 released by pod2g. This A4 only exploit is now released to the public and pod2g has explained in a blog post exactly what Corona is, what it does and how it has sped up the process of finding an untethered jailbreak.

It has previously been the userland exploit that hackers were using in order to breach the stringent iOS security structure. With the iOS 5.0.1 release, Apple has patched all the pre-existing userland holes. This meant that pod2g and other hackers had to look for other ways to deliver jailbreaks. If you are not familiar with the jargon used in software development you might find the explanation below a little difficult to comprehend.

Pre-iOS 5, security researchers used to include the untethered payload as a data page, rather than a code page in the Mach-O binary. The Mach-O loader never bothered checking the authenticity which was great when hackers were looking for security flaws. ROP enabled the execution of code to occur by using signed code in the dyld cache as opposed to writing new executable code. Techniques discovered by the likes of Comex enabled ROP to be started by the Mach-O loader.

Now that Apple has upped its security game, data pages now require signature via their servers in order for the loader to authenticate the binary. @i0n1c has demonstrated ways of passing through the verification process and this method could possibly be used in an iOS 5.1 jailbreak.

With the Corona exploit, pod2g looked for a way to initialize unsigned code without using the Mach-O loader, looking for flaws in the existing Apple binaries that could be found using standard launched plist mechanisms. By using a fuzzer he discovered a format string vulnerability in theracoon configuration parsing code.

In order to apply the jailbreak at boot, racoon is started by a launched plist file which then executes the file which exploits the format string bug and gets the unsigned code going. There is a lot of in-depth information in pod2g’s blog post and for those who aren’t familiar with the jargon it may be too much to read. All that readers need to know is that this untethered jailbreak works.

How To UNTETHERED Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Using Corona 5.0.1 Untether:

Untethered Jailbreak For iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Well Underway

Pod2g has taken his research and development as far as he can and he is now collaborating with members of the Chronic and iPhone Dev teams to complete what he has started. He recently released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 on older generation devices so this is the next step. We have already seen Pod2g's work in the updated version of Redsn0w and in the Corona utility on Cydia so things are really looking up.

Unfortunately though for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners the teams have been unable to release an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak for these devices because they don't have the relevant exploits to inject the untethered files. The exploit that has been used to jailbreak the developers test devices requires the use of an official developer account and this means it cannot be released to the public.

For all those anxiously waiting for news of this new jailbreak it appears that MuscleNerd is also in on the action as well as Cydia Founder Jay Freeman aka Saurik and they have been posting updates via Twitter. It looks like progress is being made and they are hoping to have the A5 jailbreak available as soon as possible.

iPhone 4S & iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak To Be Released In Some Hours Absinthe:

Rival To Apple's iOS Music App Has Been Released Called Shazam

Shazam is a service that launched in 1999 as a company who provided users with the ability to identify music using their mobile phones. Well now it seems that Shazam player for the iPhone has been released to rival Apple's iOS Music App.

Shazam works by creating an acoustic fingerprint of the music it hears through the microphone and it is then compared to a central database where it matches the song. Shazam is already available for Android, Blackberry and Nokia devices that have java. It has been downloaded over 165 million times since 2008 and it seems they have decided to expand their portfolio.

Shazam has decided to work on creating a new music player application the will compete against the stock music app on iOS devices. This brand new application is being billed as a free of charge replacement for the current iOS music app and it is promising to offer much more functionality than is given by Apple. This includes the ability to have synced lyrics, artist biographies, smart playlists and social sharing capabilities meaning that users can share their content on Facebook, Twitter and other services. LyricPlay is one of the great features of this new app and it allows users to view the lyrics from songs directly in their music library. This feature does require licenses from rights owners and at the moment there are approximately 50,000 sets of lyrics available. If this sounds good to you then why not check out the Shazam app today and see if it is what you are looking for.

Get Cydia Package Updates For iPhone And iPad With CydiaBulletin

Jailbreakers love Apple's devices but they also know that by opening up the device to modification and enhancement really is a great thing. Jailbreaking encourages innovation among developers and it encourages coders to enhance the existing features of iOS and also add functionality that they feel should already be there. The Cydia store is amazing and it provides users with a platform where they can install software via APT repositories which is the main port of call for all jailbroken users. Cydia basically acts as a third party unofficial store which gives users access to privately owned repositories containing apps, tweaks and tool which are not available on the App Store due to guideline infringements. Cydia therefore gives users unlimited choice when it comes to customizing their idevice but there is one thing missing when it is compared to the official Apple App Store.

A recent upgrade to the App Store means that the application icon is now automatically badged if an update becomes available for any installed apps. This alerts users to any updates allowing them to enter the App Store to download what they need. Cydia however is still like the old App Store in that users have no idea if there is an update to a tweak or theme unless they go into Cydia.

IOS developer Ryan Petrich has taken some steps to rectify this issue with a tweak he is calling CydiaBulletin. This new tweak provides Notification Centre alerts when a new version of an installed tweak is available. This tweak should hopefully offers all the functionality of other alerts such as being available on the lock screen, an audible tone and swiping alert to go straight to Cydia. This tweak is still in its initial stages and there is no estimated time of release as yet but it does sound very promising and as soon as it is made available to the public we will be sure to let you know.

Use Sn0wbreeze 2.9 to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Untethered On iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch

Pod2g's Corona untethered exploit for iOS 5.0.1 has breathed some new life into the jailbreak community which has had very little to boost about since the release of iOS 5 just over two months ago. Those of you who are running iOS 5.0.1 can now enjoy an untethered jailbreak 5.0.1 using this exploit.

A tethered jailbreak has been available all along using both Sn0wbreeze and Redsn0w but now it seems as if the full untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 has finally arrived. You may not know this but Pod2g's progress only applies to devices running on the older A4 chip so this is available for the iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch.

Sn0wbreeze which is a very popular Windows only jailbreak utility for creating custom iOS firmware with preserved basebands, has now been updated to jailbreak untethered which is great news and you can find plenty of great tutorials on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered using Sn0wbreeze. For Mac users it is worth noting that the PwnageTool has also been updated which means these users can also enjoy an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak.

If you are looking to unlock your iDevice many of the newer basebands are simply too tough to crack at the moment so it is worth noting that both Sn0wbreeze and PwnageTool can help with baseband preservation which will allow you to use Ultrasn0w to unlock your device.

If you are running an A5 device such as the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 you will have to wait a little longer to see a jailbreak as these devices are proving quite difficult for the modders and dev teams to infiltrate. A lot of progress has been made on the A5 front so hopefully it won't be too long before there is an untethered jailbreak available for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1.

NEW Sn0wbreeze 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak For iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch & iPad:

Untethered iPad 2 Jailbreak Running Successfully On iOS 5.0.1

All those who have been patiently waiting on the release of an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S can now breathe a small sigh of relief. The timescales for this release are indeed shortening and a public release could happen at any time.

Every blog and twitter update signals that Pod2g and his dream team of developers are winning their battle against the A5 devices. This whole process began back in November last year and judging by the amount of retweets and replies that each update receives, the jailbreak community is waiting in anticipation of A5 liberation. The people that have been involved in this process have been drip feeding information to the community whenever a goal has been reached or a problem has occurred. This jailbreak journey really has been one of the most transparent in jailbreak history with Pod2g really doing a great job of keeping his fans in the loop.

Recent updates from Pod2g have included a video which shows the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 with an untethered jailbreak. Now we have perhaps the shortest ever blog post by Pod2g which just showed an image and four words. It showed a picture of an iPad 2 with Cydia 1.1.3 running full screen and clearly showing that it is running on iOS 5.0.1.

Send Tweets Natively Using Siri With New Jailbreak Tweak

We have been getting to know Siri since October 2011 when the iPhone 4S was launched. There is no denying that Siri is a great addition to the iPhone with its intelligent voice assistant being able to analyze voice commands and perform specific tasks based on this audible user instruction. A lot of people however still aren't convinced and many people say it is the lack of scope that is leaving them on the bench where Siri is concerned.

When the iPhone 4s and Siri were launched the software was billed and advertised as a personal assistant that would let you send messages, schedule meetings, make phones calls and a lot of other impressive things. One of the major benefits was the ability to talk to Siri like a real person forming full sentences to instruct the software of what you wanted it to do. Siri would then analyze the sentence, understand it and process it. For a lot of things Siri works great but unfortunately the technology has not been integrated deeply enough into the iOS and there are some things that we would love Siri to be able to do that it just can't.

The jailbreak community have as always stepped forward and we are starting to see some great Siri-based tweaks popping up in Cydia. Some of these add additional power to Siri by hooking into certain settings and allowing users to launch specific applications using voice commands.

Apple made a big deal about the fact that they were partnering with Twitter to deeply integrate this social service into iOS. After the initial excitement died down all users really got was native account registering through settings and a framework for developers which negates the need to deal with Twitter's unfriendly APIs. IOS developer Tyler Nettleton posted on his Twitter account to see if any of his followers would be interested in a tweak that would allow Siri to write and post tweets.

Sprint and T-Mobile to Offer iPad 2 or iPad 3?

The Cupertino, California-based Apple has seeded the first beta version of the iOS 5.1 firmware to their iOS developers who are currently enrolled at Apple’s Developer Centre. And just moments after the release of the new firmware, it’s been speculated that that a new variant of the iPad 2 could be in the works. With the newly discovered code with a reference to 2,4 and with previous versions (2,1 – 2,2 – 2,3) identifying models specific to antenna (Wi-Fi, AT&T, and Verizon) it may be logical to guess this is the rumored Sprint or T-Mobile’s version of Apple’s flagship tablet. This really makes sense, as Apple is likely to boosts up their market share and cements its dominance in pierced tablet PC market. So, if everything goes according to Apple’s plan, Sprint or T-Mobile was going to get an updated version of the iPad 2 in time for the holiday season.

On the other hand, we are also hearing reports that the 2,4 may refer to the new iPad 3 that is expected to be release next year – spring of 2012 – along with the new and redesigned iPhone 5.

In other news, the newly discovered iPhone 5,1 could be a major or the redesigned version of the iPhone (the iPhone 4S was coded 4,1). Though there’s not much info regarding the new iPhone (and iPad), but it’s speculated that the new iOS devices will be significantly different from the current one.

As for the new iOS 5.1 beta, the new software update will bring improvements as well as address various bugs and security holes that were found on the previous versions of the iOS. Hopefully it will finally fix the bug that might affecting the battery life of the iPhone 4S. The new iOS 5.1 beta 1 with build number 9B5117b is available for the iPad 1 and iPad 2 users, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM and CDMA) and iPhone 4S users, as well as third and fourth-gen iPod Touch users.
