Early this year, Samsung is expected to introduce into the U.S. a device that features characteristics of both a smartphone and a tablet. The mobile-device giant announced that it will release the product early in 2012 in the United States, the International Business Times reported. Samsung reportedly has revealed shipping more than a million units of the Galaxy Note around the world and has noted that sales of the device were on the rise in Asia and Europe.The device runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and features a 5.3-inch display with a 1100 x 800 high-resolution screen. Some other notable features include access to virtual private networks, an "S Pen" functionality that lets users write notes or sketch drawings and the business-oriented Cisco WebEx, which enables users to view shared desktops, browsers, apps and documents.
Most speculation is that AT&T will be the first wireless carrier to get its hands on the Note. Expect to hear more from Samsung at next week's Consumer Electronics Show.
