Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD spotted yet again, gets the benchmark treatment

The yet-to-be-announced Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD has been spotted in the wild for the second time in less than a month and the smartphone formerly known as the Nozomi has gone through a benchmark test.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD is expected to be the manufacturer’s first dual-core entry into a market that is already filled with them. The Snapdragon processor that will power the smartphone from behind the scenes is believed to be clocking in at 1.5GHz. It also will have 1GB of RAM

Aside from the processor the Xperia Arc HD is going to have a 4.3-inch 720p display that will almost certainly be eye-popping. With the handset packing a resolution of 1280x720 inside of a 4.3-inch screen it results in an impressive pixel density of 342ppi. Around the back it will feature a whopping 12 megapixel camera with the Exmor R sensor. The camera can also record video in full 1080p HD.

Out of the gate the handset will more than likely feature Android Gingerbread (like the one in the photos does) rather than ICS. Of course on time of that would be Sony Ericsson’s custom user interface. Surely there will be some sort of update in its future, but who knows when.

The benchmark tests are a little disappointing. They show that only one of the two processors is running and therefore produces a lowly score of 2219. That score wouldn’t be horrible if this was a single-core phone, but we will just have to wait for the device to become official before we see what it is truly capable of.

Hopefully Sony Ericsson does things right with the Arc HD. A flagship type handset from them would be a nice alternative to the numerous Samsung, Motorola and HTC devices that are flooding the market. If the Arc HD turns out to be the beast of a smartphone that it sounds like on paper, how many of you would consider picking one up?
