Apple Planning New iPhone Design For Fall Of 2012?

According to a recent report by the BGR, Apple is planning to release a completely re-designed iPhone in 2012, and we won’t see the device around June or July of 2012, instead we will have to wait until the Fall of 2012. Apple launched the iPhone 4S in October 2011, so it would make sense for them to launch the new iPhone around the same time in 2012, I could be wrong on this but i would put money on it being called the iPhone 5.

BGR has learned a number of details surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone from a close source. For starters, we can now confidently say that Apple’s next iPhone will launch in the fall next year, around the same time that this year’s iPhone 4S launched. The next iPhone is expected to come with a slightly larger display of around 4 inches and it is also rumored to feature an aluminum casing similar to that of the iPad 2.

New iPhone App Improves Eyesight

There is a new iPhone app coming out that could actually reduce the amount of time that you need to wear glasses or contact lenses. This new app is called GlassesOff and it is being developed by Ucansi and is expected to be released in the next couple of weeks. The GlassesOff app has been found to improve eyesight in people of 50 to that of a 40 years old and this was after just 40 sessions of using the app. Sounds pretty great doesn’t it? Studies have also shown that this app can help people to read sentences more quickly.

When you purchase this app and use it you will get a grey screen with a white circle and then images at random places on the screen. These images can be blank or have blurred lines or patterns on them and what you have to do is pick out the specific gabor patches that pop up where the white circle is. What happens is that eye muscle gets a workout which helps to keep the eye young and healthy.

If this sounds like something you would like to try out then be warned, it is going to retail at £60 for three months when it hits the app stores. Seems pretty pricey but if it really does do what it says it will work out cheaper than laser eye surgery. It is going to be available in the App Store later this year and if it does well I’m sure we will see some other developers producing similar apps that will be available in the Cydia store.

Flipboard is now available on the iPhone

Flipboard is an application that iPad owners are likely familiar with. In a nutshell, it masterfully transforms the information that is being shared with you – news feeds, social network updates, and the likes, into an elegant magazine with a personal touch. And the app just got even better – Flipboard has gone down in size and is now available on the iPhone too.

Besides being modified to fit the iPhone's screen, Flipboard has also received a new feature that the iPad version has yet to get. Based on the type of content that you read the most, the app compiles a selection of cover stories – stories that are most likely to be of interest to you. And the more you use Flipboard, the smarter it gets. Of course, social network integration is still present, and the global search bar can dig through all of your accounts.

If you have used Flipboad on an iPad before, your content will be automatically made accessible on the iPhone as soon as you log in. And if you have not tried the app yet, feel free to check it out by hitting the source link below.

Apple rumored to be testing a quad-core iPhone with a 720 display

German Mac rumor site, Macerkopf, claims to have gotten a little insider dirt on iPhone 5 testing. The site says it has two sources that commented on a few of the configurations that Apple is currently testing for its next iPhone release.

Apple rumored to be testing a quad-core iPhone with a 720 display
The first is, in addition to dual-core processors, Apple is testing a quad-core iPhone. It is not clear if that technology would be even be ready in time for a release, but it is reasonable to think that Apple would at least be open to testing a quad-core option to see if a balance could be struck between speed, price, and battery life.

Macerkopf also states that Apple is testing several different screen resolutions that are higher than the current resolution of 960x640. Specifically, it says that Apple is testing a 1280x720 display and a 1440x800 display. The first is seen in some Android phones, so it is entirely plausible. The second is somewhat of an odd ratio, but with Apple, you never know.

Obviously, coming off the release of the iPhone 4S, these are very early rumors. It will be interesting to see if any of these speculations end up holding any water in the future.

Apple cans employee over an iPhone rant on Facebook

If you work for Apple and are unhappy with your iPhone, you may want to keep it to yourself. An employee at the Apple Store in Norwich, UK by the name of Samuel Crisp was terminated for just that. Apparently Crisp had made several derogatory and sarcastic comments in reference to the company. He was then suspended, and later fired.

One instance that was cited was when Crisp was trying out an app for his iPhone, he posted, “****ed up my time zone for the third time in a week and woke me up at 3am? JOY!!” Another was when Apple posted “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget.” to hint at the upcoming Beatles release to iTunes, Crisp responded, “Tomorrow’s just another day that hopefully I will forget.”

Unfortunately, one of his friends on Facebook, who was also a co-worker, showed all of Crisp’s posts to their boss, which led to his termination. Crisp attempted to file for unemployment, but was denied. The employment tribunal panel stated, “We take into account their position that the Facebook posts were not truly private and could in fact have been forwarded very easily with the claimant having no control over this process.”
