Motorola RAZR Gets Update In Europe

A new software update is rolling out starting today for the Motorola RAZR. This is not the DROID RAZR here on Verizon, and instead is the international and European model just named the Motorola RAZR. The European model is responsible for those leaked 4.0 builds too but today it is only getting Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.

RAZR users in the UK, Italy, France and Spain can all enjoy the latest and greatest from Motorola starting today. Over on the Moto Facebook page they detailed some of the new features. Most of them we’ve already seen such as smart actions, better battery life, improved camera support and a few different Google security patches. We are also hearing this will update the recent Google Play apps to the latest versions.

You can also see the full change log direct from Motorola by clicking here. Again, the update is rolling out today and should arrive for most users by Friday. As usual if you’d like to get it now and not wait for the OTA push head to settings > about phone > system updates > download and enjoy that BLUR infused Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.

With the Android 4.0 ICS getting leaked last month we were hoping this would be Android 4.0 but sadly that isn’t quite ready for prime time just yet. Let us know how the update procedure goes for those with the international Motorola RAZR.

DROID RAZR by Motorola: Switchers:

Motorola DROID RAZR is now available with Verizon

Motorola DROID RAZR is now available with Verizon
The Motorola DROID RAZR is finally available on Verizon today, on the numerologically significant 11.11.11, and that’s good news for those shopping for a super slim dual-core handset with support for LTE. It’s not good news for your wallet, though, as the Droid Razr costs a whopping $299 when purchased with a two-year agreement on Big Red. You do get double the megabyte allowance with the phone, though.

If you hurry up to get it today, though, you’d do good to order it on Amazon where the price has seen a dramatic cut to $111.11.

And if you’re still hesitating whether the handset is the right one for you, we’ve got you covered with an in-depth review of the Droid Razr, so feel free to take a peek.

In a nutshell, the new Razr lives up to its name and is really the thinnest smartphone we’ve seen, which automatically makes it also the slimmed LTE handset. It comes with a sturdy kevlar back, while the rest of its highlights include a:
- 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED display,
- 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4430 processor,
- 1GB of RAM,
- 8MP camera recording 1080p videos,
- LTE connectivity.

If you opt to order it in the more costly traditional way via Verizon’s website, hit the source link below and don’t forget to share your impressions with us in the comments below.

Motorola RAZR rooted well before release

Motorola RAZR rooted well before release
We knew it wouldn't take long because of the root exploit found that was assumed to work on all Motorola Gingerbread phones, but it has come through even before the RAZR was officially released: the RAZR has been rooted.

We saw the DROID RAZR pre-order go up just a few days ago, and now we're getting a better picture of what the mod situation will be like on the device. So, running through what we know so far: it's likely that the bootloader on the international version Motorola RAZR will be unlockable, but the DROID RAZR will not be unlockable. In addition, we now know that P3Droid has announced that the RAZR does have a working root.

That's all the info we have so far. No word on how the root will work or if it will be a permanent root or not. However, if this is the same root method that was found by P3Droid to work on all other Gingerbread Motos, it should be a pretty easy process. So, it looks like those of you getting the RAZR can have a race to see whether Motorola ships the ICS update in January before or after Cyanogen has a working ICS ROM for the RAZR.

Motorola DROID RAZR added to Verizon MAP with October 27th launch date

Motorola DROID RAZR added to Verizon MAP with October 27th launch date
Recently, we showed you a version of the Minimum Advertised Pricing list for Verizon which included the HTC Rezound (formerly the HTC Vigor) and the Samsung GALAXY Nexus. Absent was the Motorola DROID RAZR-until now. The latest version of Verizon's MAP list shows a hastily added DROID RAZR at the bottom of the list with a possible launch date of October 27th and a price of $299.99. The price was already announced by Verizon when the super-thin LTE enabled phone was introduced, but originally the word was that the Motorola DROID RAZR would be up for pre-orders on October 27th with a launch later the next month.

Considering the impressive success that the MAP has had in forecasting launch dates and prices, we have to take seriously the possibility that Verizon's new flagship DROID could be in your hand quicker than you thought. As far as the HTC Rezound and the Samsung GALAXY Nexus are concerned, it was only today that the latter was confirmed to be heading to Big Red. Both the Rezound and the GALAXY Nexus are expected to launch November 10th at a price of $299.99.

Once again, we remind you that the MAP list is a document that shows the lowest price that re-sellers can sell new phones for. The idea is to prevent quick discounting of new phones which might make customers concerned that either there is a problem with the handset or that it is unpopular. The list is not designed to reveal launch dates and prices.
