Leaked screenshots show Nokia Carla OS

The upcoming Nokia “Carla” OS update is set to roll out for the Nokia 808 Pureview, Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 603 handsets. A new post showed up on NokiaNesia blog today containing a set of screenshots of a Nokia handset running the Nokia Carla OS.

According to the leaked screenshots of the Nokia Carla OS, we can observe that there’s a new Lock screen without Unlock button and you need to Swipe it to unlock the screen. There’s a new on-screen QWERTY keyboard, which looks like it has been adopted from Windows Phone OS and the Nokia Browser has also been updated with some new UI improvements.

The Music player has also has also got some refreshed improvements such as the New Interface for Option with Blue button, which seems to have been inspired by Meego Harmattan UI. The source has also mentioned that the Finnish mobile maker isn’t bringing the new Nokia Carla OS update for its 1st generation Symbian^3 handsets such as the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. Hopefully, Nokia will manage to bring the update for these handsets too.

Nokia Lumia 610c CDMA Windows Phone Announced For China

Nokia launched its first Windows Phone CDMA handsets in China, now the world’s biggest smartphone market. The Nokia Lumia 800C, a version of the flagship Lumia 800, and the budge Lumia 610C will represent Nokia’s WP portfolio in the world’s most populous country.

The Lumia 800C is made to work on China Telecom’s 3G network, but apart from that there is little difference from the original unibody design and hardware guts. The handset is CDMA-compatible and will be launched in April in Tianyi FlyYoung shops and Nokia’s own stores.

The first 100,000 buyers get to download Fruit Ninja and Plants vs Zombies for free from the Markeplace. The budget Lumia 610C wasn’t given an exact release date, but is still expected to come in Q2 2012. The handset is among the first to lower the bar on Windows Phone and features only 256MB of RAM, a shortcut that allows it to keep a very low price. At the same time, Microsoft has worked with Nokia to ensure the WP experience remains smooth as molasses.

Nokia Lumia 900 To Land On AT&T 8th April?

We were expecting the Nokia Lumia 900 to be available from AT&T some time this month, although we heard earlier this week that it looks like it will land on AT&T in April, with April the 22nd as a rumored launch date.

Now according to the guys over at The Verge, it would appear that AT&T may launch the Nokia Lumia 900 on the 8th of April, and this new apparently comes from an AT&T store manager. As a reminder, the Lumia 900 comes with a single core 1.4GHz processor and a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Other specifications on the handset include Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, plus a front facing 1 megapixel camera, a rear facing 8 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, 16GB of built in storage, WiFi and 4G LTE. Of course this date has yet to be confirmed by AT&T, so we can’t say for sure that this will be the official launch date, but we suspect the handset will hit AT&T some time next month.

Nokia Lumia 900 Appears At The FCC

Nokia Lumia 900 is due to go on sale in the US this month, Nokia also recently announced that they would be releasing the Nokia Lumia 900 in Canada and Europe and now the device has appeared at the FCC. The Nokia Lumia 900 features a single core 1.4GHz processor, plus a rear facing 8 megapixel camera with an f2.2 Carl Zeiss lens, the rear camera is capable of recording HD video in 720p, up front there is 1 megapixel camera with an f2.4 lens.

Other specifications on the Nokia Lumia 900 include 16GB of built in storage, plus a 1830 mAh battery and of course the 4.3 inch Clear Black AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The US version of the Nokia Lumia 900 will be available this month, whilst the European version will be available some time this quarter.

Nokia Lumia 800 Now Available In The US

The Nokia Lumia 800, which launched in Europe at the end of last year is now available in the US, although it is only available as a bundle deal and can only per purchased from Microsoft stores in the US. There are only around 16 Microsoft stores in the US, which could mean it would be hard to get your hands on the device, unless you live near one of the stores.

The device is available SIM free, but can only be purchased as part of a package, which will cost you $899, and the package includes a Nokia Play 360 wireless speaker, a Purity HD Stereo headset and an in ear Bluetooth headset. As a reminder the Nokia Lumia 800 comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, and it comes with Windows 7.5 Mango, processing is provided by a single core 1.4GHz processor.

The Nokia Lumia 800 also features a 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a dual led flash and auto-focus, it can record HD video in 720p, there is also 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, HSDPA, HSUPA and it uses the new micro SIM card instead of a standard SIM card. Nokia To Show Off Six New Handsets At MWC 2012?

It is only two weeks until Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona, we are expecting to see a wide range of new smartphones from a number of manufacturers. One of those is Nokia, and we have already heard rumors that the company will unveil a couple of new Windows Phone devices, and not it looks like Nokia may have around six new handsets to unveil although not all of them will be Windows Phone devices.

According to a recent report by Pocket Now, out of the six new devices, at least two of them are expected to be Windows Phone smartphones, one will possibly be a Symbian powered device, whilst the other three are expected to be feature phones. It will be interesting to see what new Nokia devices are unveiled, I am particularly interested in seeing their new Windows Phone devices, and we hope they unveil some of the rumored devices we have been hearing about over the last few weeks.

Nokia Lumia 800 getting update for its camera

The camera on the back of the Nokia Lumia 800 is supposed to be taking great pictures. After all, it has an 8MP sensor and a Carl Zeiss-certified lens. But something is not working out right and Nokia's Damian Dinning sent out a tweet to say that an update is coming although there is no specific date in mind. Last month, when Nokia stated that an update had repaired a problem that the phone was having with the battery, the Finnish based manufacturer admitted that there was an issue with the camera and that it would not be overlooked.

Apparently the problems with the camera are a software issue which is why Nokia is hopeful that this update on the way will allow the camera to reach its full potential. Late last month, word started leaking out about problems that Nokia Lumia 800 users were having with settings to the camera.

Recently we told you about a camera cowboy shootout between the shooters on the Nokia Lumia 800, the Sony Xperia S, the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Apple iPhone 4S. The Lumia 800's camera made a good showing, but finished behind the Sony Xperia S as far as how quickly the camera app took to open on the phone.

After a long wait, Nokia Belle, the second major update to Symbian^3, starts rolling out to handsets today, Nokia announced in its official blog. The update finally makes Symbian look much more like a contemporary operating system with matching visuals, 6 home screens, a new drop down menu a la Android, neat widgets with a huge clock a la HTC Sense, better maps and plenty of other novelties.

Functionality is also improved, with faster browser with a cleaner UI, imaging applications supporting 720p video recording at 30fps and simpler menus. A couple of Microsoft apps like Lync and OneNote will also soon be made available. The Nokia Symbian Belle update is available now for the following models:

Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7,Nokia C6-01,Nokia C7 or Nokia Oro.

The only handset that will need to wait a bit is the Nokia 500. Nokia Belle will be available for it in the coming weeks. Nokia recently announced their first 4G LTE smartphone for the US, the Nokia Lumia 900, which is expected to go on sale in March, and now it would appear that Microsoft Stores have started taking pre-orders on the handset.

We still don’t have an official launch date for the device, although the last thing we heard was the 18th of March, and the device can now be pre-orderd at Microsoft Stores for a $25 deposit, you will also have to sign a new two year contract with AT&T. As a reminder, the Nokia Lumia 900 is a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device and it features a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

As Nokia continues its global roll out of its latest Windows Phone devices, the company has announced that they will launch the Nokia Lumia 800 in Australia in March. The Nokia Lumia 800 will be available with a number os Australia’s mobile carriers and the device will be available in a range of colors, which include white, black, blue and magenta.

As a reminder the Nokia Lumia 800 comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, and it comes with Windows 7.5 Mango, processing is provided by a single core 1.4GHz processor. The Nokia Lumia 710 has been available to pre-order for a while now, and it looks like it is now available from T-Mobile in the US for $49.99 when you sign up to a new two year contract with the carrier. As a reminder the Nokia Lumia 710 features a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display with an 800 x 480- pixel resolution, there is also 8GB of built in storage and a single core 1.4GHz processor, plus Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

The Nokia Lumia 710 also comes with 512MB of RAM, plus a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and it can record HD video in 720p there is also a 1,300 mAh battery and it comes with Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a micro USB port. Nokia Ace Likely To Be Shown At CES

The rumored Nokia Lumia 900 (aka Nokia Ace) Windows Phone 7 smart phone. We said that it would basically be the Nokia Lumia 800 only a bit bigger and featuring a LTE modem. The Nokia Lumia 900 is now official and the speculation seems to be correct.

The new smart phone made it debut today at a Nokia CES 2012 press conference. An AT&T exclusive, the phone features a cyan blue polycarbonate shell, 4.3" AMOLED screen with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512 MB of RAM, 8 Megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics (stated 28mm, f/2.2) and dual LED flash, front facing camera, LTE 4G modem, and a rather spacious 1840mAH battery. Sporting the Windows Phone 7 operating system, the phone has a rated seven hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time.

It will be available in either cyan or black colors in the US within the next few months and bound to the AT&T network with "aggressive" pricing. Nokia stated in their conference that it has been working closely with Qualcomm to ensure solid performance on AT&T's LTE network. SIM-free and carrier unlocked phones will also be available; however, it is not clear whether users in the US will be able to purchase them (or if they would need to be imported). Ballmer stated plainly that the "Lumia 900 is a very exciting launch," and that AT&T is critical to the WP7 future.

Nokia Lumia 900 For AT&T Leaked?

The bigger brother of the Nokia Lumia 800, the rumored Nokia Ace or Lumia 900 appears to be all set for making its debut on AT&T in the U.S. Tech terrain has been abuzz with the impending arrival of this handset which is touted to be the successor of the recently launched Lumia 800 and 710 mobile devices.

As reported earlier, Pocketnow had got hold of some leaked pictures of the Lumia smartphone which is apparently featured on the Christmas card of one of the partners in Microsoft. Running on the Windows Phone 7 OS, this handset will supposedly be known as the Nokia Ace in the U.S. when it will be introduced on AT&T. Other countries may be introduced to it as the Lumia 900.

Although it bears resemblance to the overall look of the Nokia Lumia 800, the Ace would be a step ahead of its counterpart in terms of technology. Going by these pictures, it seems that the upcoming handset boasts of a front facing secondary camera besides the mandatory primary snapper. This is something that was missing in both the Lumia devices as they possessed only one camera each.

The forthcoming smartphone is speculated to support 4G LTE connectivity which would widen its consumer base. Another interesting feature it can boast of is the rumored presence of the upcoming Windows Phone OS version dubbed Tango. The Nokia Ace or Lumia 900 will most probably be making its U.S. debut via AT&T in the near future. As this is all speculated information, details regarding its release date or price are not yet known.

Symbian Becomes Nokia Belle, Headed To Symbian Devices February 2012

It looks like Nokia has decided to change the name of its Symbian OS, with the new version which was previous called Symbian Belle, now being called Nokia Belle, and Nokia has announced that the latest version of the software is headed to Symbian devices soon.

Nokia has announced that it will release the new version of Nokia Belle to a range of devices in February 2012, and the list includes the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia Oro and the Nokia C7.

As far as we heard, Symbian Belle was going to start availability from Q4 onwards. Remember we joked about whether that meant Q4 2012.

This was confirmed during the launch and during the Q&A about the new Belle phones when asked specifically regarding updates for earlier Symbian devices. We have 3 and a bit weeks left or 25 days of Q4. Do you think Symbian Belle is going to appear in that time? Indications seem to be that it might not arrive and as far as Nokia Thailand is concerned, we’ve received some information to suggest this might be the case. I would be quite weary on posting as I’m not fully able to disclose this source and details and also indicate any concerns, but but I had some other other ‘information’ from another source that I trust that indicated this might be the case (of a no show Q4) some months back. Odd though that Belle keeps coming on and off on Navifirm. Perhaps tests are still ongoing?

Do you reckon it’s just part of a staggered update and that Thailand is just later on the list or is the whole update delayed? It wouldn’t be the first time a software update doesn’t appear on time. Nokia Lumia 800 Appears At The FCC

Nokia recently announced their first Windows Phone smartphone for the US, the Nokia Lumia 710, and they are expected to unveil a number of Windows Phone handsets at CES 2012 in January, which may include the rumored Nokia Lumia 900. The Nokia Lumia 800 launched in Europe last month, and Nokia hasn’t yet provided any details on when the device will launch in the US, but now it would appear that Nokia will launch the Lumia 800 in the US shortly, probably at CES in January.

Ever wondered why Nokia concentrates more on Europe than US, having released their flagship Nokia Lumia 800 across the pond before deciding to roll it out Stateside many months later? Either way, the age old adage “better late than never” applies here, and as the Nokia Lumia 800 arrives at the US, it is only a matter of time before this handset joins the ranks of T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 710. The FCC documents concerning the Nokia Lumia 800 do reveal support for 850MHz and 1900MHz 3G bands in the US, missing out on 1700MHz, which means this is most probably making its way towards the stables of AT&T rather than T-Mobile. If everything else goes well with the FCC approval process, then do expect to see the Windows Phone-powered Lumia 800 to arrive sometime in the first three months of next year. Hopefully it will arrive sooner rather than later, as newer, more powerful handsets would have rolled out by then which could make this phone less attractive.

The Lumia 800 has now appeared at the FCC, and it could be headed to US mobile carrier AT&T, Nokia could also possibly launch an LTE version of the Lumia 800 as well as other devices as the company has previously said we will see their first LTE Windows Phone devices in 2012.

Could This Be The Nokia Lumia 900?

Look what just popped up in our mailbox. At first glance it looks just like the Nokia Lumia 800, but there are subtle clues that it is a different devices such as the lower-set capacitive keys. If this is indeed the Nokia Lumia 900 it would explain why rumours of a Lumia 800 with LTE going round, given the close resemblance between the devices. It is striking however that there is no clear front-facing camera, but there is a circular area in the top left corner which may still conceal this.

The Nokia 900 is a rumoured Windows Phone with a 4.3” ClearBlack AMOLED screen, HSPA+ data speeds, and a 1.4 GHz single-core processor. It is rumoured to have an 8-megapixel rear camera and 16 GB or 32 GB of storage. Front-facing camera and gyro sensor is currently unknown. It is rumored to be released Q1 2012 on AT&T. Other country release dates are currently unknown.

Nokia Lumia 900 Specifications Revealed?

We know that Nokia has another new Windows Phone device in the works, the Nokia Lumia 900, and now it would appear that we may have some actual specifications of the device.

According to the Geek Tech Blog, who have apparently got their hands on the device, although they don’t have any actual photos, the Nokia Lumia 900 will feature a larger display than the Lumia 800, with a 4.3 inch AMOLED touchscreen display and a 1.4GHz processor. We heard previously that the Lumia 900 will go on sale in January of 2012, although it may end up coming slightly later than this either some time in quarter one or quarter two of 2012.

Nokia Lumia 800 Software Updates Start Rolling Out

We heard recently that Nokia would be releasing a couple of software updates to fix the reported battery problems on their flagship Windows Phone smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 800. Nokia has now announced that the first of these updates has started rolling out, and will be delivered to all Nokia Lumia 800 handsets over the next two weeks.

According to Nokia the first software update will bring the following fixes to the Lumia 800, Charging improvements, Voicemail notification improvement, Replying to mail improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003 users, Improved display switching in bright light, Improved audio quality.
