Nokia 808 PureView Smartphone Not Coming To North America

Then Nokia 808 PureView is a Symbian Belle smartphone that Nokia announced at this years MWC 2012, and the device comes with a 41 megapixel camera. Now it would appear that Nokia wont be releasing the Nokia 808 PureView in North America, presumably because of lack of interest from the US carriers. Of course you would still be able to buy a SIM free Nokia 808 PureView and use it with US carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile, as a number of online retailers will be offering the device SIM free in the US.

The Nokia 808 PureView comes with Symbian Belle and features a 41 megapixel camera and a 4 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. Other specifications include a 1.3GHz single core processor and comes with 16GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot that can take up to 32GB cards. We heard yesterday that Nokia intends to use its PureView technology in future Windows Phone devices, and we can expect those to be available in the US at some point in the future.

Nokia Cancels Nokia 600 Symbian Smartphone

Back in August Nokia announced three new Symbian smartphones that would come with Symbian Belle, one of those was the new Nokia 600, but now it would appear that the company has decided not to release the Nokia 600. The Nokia 600 was due to go on sale for about 180 Euros and it featured a 1 GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera, NFC, Bluetooth, and lots more, obviously Nokia has decided to focus its efforts on other devices.

After careful consideration we have decided not to ship the Nokia 600 to markets, we are constantly continuing to refine our portfolio to bring consumers the best possible range of devices to meet their diverse needs.” Maybe Nokia intends to release a similar device with Windows Phone 7 at the same price point, we will have to wait until next year to find out.

Nokia 5233 Aplicativos, Light Sabre:

Can Windows Phone Save Nokia’s Smartphone Business?

Nokia has released its latest quarterly results, and whilst the company posted a third quarter net loss of 68 million Euros, the loss was much lower than expected with Nokia increasing sales of lower priced handsets up 8 percent to almost 90 million units. Next week, on October the 25th Nokia World will take place in London, and we will finally get to see our first Nokia Windows Phone devices, since Nokia and Microsoft announced their new partnership earlier in the year.

We already know that Nokia will be announcing the Nokia 800, which is a Windows Phone Mango device that shares a similar design to the Nokia N9, and we have also heard that they may launch some other Nokia Windows Phone devices at the same time. Nokia have hard poor smartphone sales over the last few years, especially in the US, where the company has been unable to compete with the likes of Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android devices.

Nokia has always produced great hardware, what has let them down in recent years is their software, we are looking forward to seeing what they unveil next week, and whether they will be able to turn their smartphone business around with the help of Microsoft’s Windows Phone.

Nokia Sea Ray Windows Phone 7 Leak:

Nokia’s new Morph concept phone

Nokia's new Morph concept phone would use nanotechnology to give it a flexible body with a transparent display that could be re-shaped depending on the user's needs, a far cry from today's solid and chunky devices. Even the electronics inside it would be transparent and flexible, so the whole phone may be twisted and stretched into bracelet shapes or tablet form, and nanotech cleverness means it would even clean itself. Developed in cooperation with Cambridge University, this glimpse of a distant future is now on display at the MoMA in New York.
Morph concept technologies might create fantastic opportunities for mobile devices: Newly-enabled flexible and transparent materials blend more seamlessly with the way we live,  Devices become self-cleaning and self-preserving, Transparent electronics offering an entirely new aesthetic dimension, Built-in solar absorption might charge a device, whilst batteries become smaller, longer lasting and faster to charge, Integrated sensors might allow us to learn more about the environment around us, empowering us to make better choices
In addition to the advances above, the integrated electronics shown in the Morph concept could cost less and include more functionality in a much smaller space, even as interfaces are simplified and usability is enhanced. All of these new capabilities will unleash new applications and services that will allow us to communicate and interact in unprecedented ways.

Nokia Searay: the Astonishing concept Phone

The Nokia Searay for T-Mobile Germany, that has just leaked. It is guessed we’ll see it for the first time officially at Nokia World 2011 at the end of October.
Till then the detail what we have here and the description in German says that the Nokia Searay offers 3D navigation, voice navigation, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and a 3.7 inch AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz CPU, 16GB of internal memory and an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera. Notice the huge resemblance in design with the Nokia N9, not that it’s a bad thing, since that look was very hot when it debuted. Also, it is hoped that the name Genesis won’t stick, since it’s not catchy and should be replaced with something like W8 or W800 or maybe N1.

Nokia N9 launches with no buttons, but plenty of MeeGo swiping

Nokia has announced the next flagship smartphone in its venerated N-series line, the N9. The N9 features an all-new design and interface that eschews the button-heavy designs of past Nokia devices. Nokia is calling the design of the N9 an "all-screen" affair, and that description seems to be quite accurate. The slab-style phone is dominated by a 3.9-inch, AMOLED(INFO) display with Nokia's ClearBlack technology that offers FWVGA (480x854 pixel) resolution. The body of the phone itself is a single piece of polycarbonate, not the usual metal materials that we are used to seeing with Nokia's N-Series of phones. Nokia says that the body of the phone flows seamlessly into the slightly curved display. There is a volume rocker and shortcut key on the right-hand side of the phone and a power/unlock key on top, but other than that, there don't appear to be any buttons on the N9, not even a camera shutter key, which is a shocking departure for Nokia.

The rear of the N9 sports an 8 megapixel, autofocus camera that's complete with a Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash. It can record HD video at 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) resolution and 30 frames per second. The camera has a wide-aperture (f2.2) lens that Nokia claims will provide better shots in low-light conditions. There is also a front-facing camera for video calling.

The Nokia N9 really looks great, with striking industrial design and what appears to be a beautiful and elegant UI. The only question to remain is, what will happen to it (and its MeeGo operating system) when Nokia launches its Windows Phone powered smartphones, due by the end of this year? With as much R&D as the N9 has obviously had, why didn't Nokia just pursue this MeeGo platform instead of switching to Windows Phone in the near future? Oh, and will it have a competitive assortment of apps available to users? We will have to wait and see. The Nokia N9 is due to hit stores "later this year", and will arrive in three colors: black, cyan, and magenta. In the meantime, take a look at a couple of videos Nokia has put together highlighting the N9 and its new interface.

Nokia N9 - The Big Introduction - Swipe with Nokia's Beautiful New Smartphone:

Nokia N9 Design Story:

Nokia 701 Symbian Belle smartphone has brightest display in the world

The second of Nokia's new smartphones to launch with Symbian Belle, the Nokia 701 features the brightest screen in the world according to the Finnish phone maker. Additionally, it sports a plethora of wireless connections and a fast processor. Cutting to the chase, the 3.5-inch, IPS LCD with ClearBlack technology has the most NITs (a rating for brightness) of any smartphone display in the world. The display features Nokia's common nHD (360 x 640 pixel) resolution. The extra brightness should make it easier to see the display in direct sunlight, and the IPS features should provide great viewing angles. It also features Corning Gorilla Glass for added durability.

Dimensionally, the 701 is larger than its 700 brother, as it measures 117.2mm x 56.8mm x 11mm (4.61in x 2.24in x 0.43in) and weighs 131g (4.62oz). It is powered by a 1GHz processor, and has 8GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot supports cards up to 32GB in capacity. In addition to the processor is a new graphics co-processor that has faster speed and four times the memory of older Nokia graphics chips. The 701 sports a pentaband cellular radio with HSUPA 3G, plus Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and an FM radio. An 8 megapixel "full focus" camera with LED flash is found on the rear, and a secondary front-facing camera is available for video calls. The 701 is capable of recording 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) HD video, too. A 1300mAh battery provides up to 17 hours of talk time or almost 23 days of standby.

Nokia launches the 700 with Symbian Belle, says its the smallest smartphone in the world

To go along with the announcement of the new Symbian Belle operating system, Nokia has launched some new smartphones that make use of it. The Nokia 700 is said to be the smallest slate-style smartphone on the market, yet it still has some of the higher-end specs that one would expect to see on a larger smartphone.

The diminutive 700 measures only 110mm x 50.7mm x 9.7mm (4.3in x 2in x 0.38in) and weighs a scant 96g (3.39oz). It is powered by a 1GHz processor and has GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support, plus an FM radio. It has a 5 megapixel "full focus" camera with LED flash and 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) HD video capture, and comes equipped with 2GB of internal memory to store your images. You can expand the memory with microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. The Nokia 700 sports a pentaband cellular radio, and its 1080mAh battery is claimed to offer 7 hours of talk time or over 19 days of standby time.

The 3.2-inch display on the 700 is a ClearBlack AMOLED unit, with nHD (360 x 640 pixel) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass. The 700 also features deep NFC capabilities, thanks to the Symbian Belle operating system. Nokia claims that the 700 is the greenest smartphone that it has produced to date, as it is free of PVC, RFR, and BFR, and is 100 percent recyclable. The Nokia 700 will come in cool grey, silver/white, coral red, peacock blue, and purple color options, and will arrive in the third quarter.

Nokia 700 with the new Symbian Belle:

Nokia 101 offers dual-SIM capabilities on the cheap

In addition to launching the low-end Nokia 100, Nokia has also introduced the Nokia 101, which is very similar to the 100, save for its dual-SIM capabilities. Additionally, the 101 sports an MP3 music player for listening to tunes on the go. Nokia is positioning the 100 and the 101 for emerging markets, like those in large parts of Africa and Asia where it is not common for every person to have a mobile phone. The 101 offers very similar features to the 100, including the built-in flashlight, but it adds the capability to have more than one SIM card in the phone at once, as well as an MP3 player. The 101 is able to remember the address books of five different users, and stores the details of up to five SIM cards at a time. Users can plug in louder speakers to the 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for microSD cards up to 16GB in capacity allows them to store thousands of songs.

Hardware-wise, the 101 is also very similar to the 100. It measures 110mm x 45.5mm x 14.9mm (4.33in x 1.79in x 0.59in) and weighs 71g (2.5oz). It has the same 1.8-inch, 128 x 160 pixel color display and large keys for easy navigation. A 800mAh battery provides up to 6.7 hours of talk time or 25 days of standby. Nokia says that users can get 26 hours of music playback between charges when the volume is at 50 percent of its maximum volume. Nokia will be launching the 101 in select emerging markets this quarter. It will retail for about 25 EUR (US$36), and will come in black or coral red color options. Check out the video below for a closer look at the Nokia 101.
