When Tak Wak, the German company responsible for the tw700, was threshing out the specs for their latest creation, they no doubt wanted something more than a smartphone. It’s likely they figured rather than bringing your precious iPhone along whenever you’re on some adventure, why not go for the Android-powered tw700 instead? See, smartphones are just handhelds with apps. The tw700, however, is a different beast. A dedicated multi-function device that any hiker, mountaineer, and swashbuckling daredevil can use at will.

The tw700 is a smartphone. It’s also a pocket walkie-talkie inc ase phoning isn’t necessary or there ‘s not enough juice for a call. Another rplus for the tw700 is it was designed for the outdoor set, people who like roughing it up and going places. To this end, the tw700 is lightweight, sturdy, and comes with a generous number of bells and whistles to keep it on the cool side of things. T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G now on Sale

The new T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G cell phone is now on sale for $259.99 with 2-Year contract. As for the Amaze it’s a bulkier, heavier version of the Sensation with more Ram and internal memory (And a few more camera specs). The Galaxy S II headed to T-Mobile is coming up next, it is a great phone too and build quality is much better than the original S but they’ve kept that lightweight and almost cheap feeling, but it doesn’t feel cheap by any means. I’m really looking forward to this phone. And while I’ve been very happy with the performance, the aesthetics and build quality are lacking. I’m excited to get a sexier, better built, and heavier phone in my paws.

In 10 days, 20% of WP7 phones have gotten Mango

Microsoft has done a lot of work to make it possible for Windows Phone handsets to get software updates as fast as possible, and it looks like that work is paying off. In just 10 days, the Mango update has reached 20% of Windows Phone devices worldwide and that number is set to hit 50% in another 10 days.

Of course this number represents just the official updates, if we were to mix in devices running beta versions of Mango the number jumps up to 30% of devices. These number are all courtesy of a WP7 app called "I'm a WP7", which pulls data from a sample of about 83,000 devices around the world, so the numbers could be fairly accurate. This update is the fastest yet for the platform.





Some may use this as more proof that Android's update model is broken, given that the newest version of Android has just hit 39%, almost a year after its release, but of course comparing the two systems makes no sense because the models take two different sides of a tradeoff. Android manufacturers choose to iterate hardware faster and push updates slower, while Microsoft keeps tight reins on WP7 hardware, so the hardware iterates slower, but updates can push faster.
