T-Mobile tower sale could net nearly $3 billion for Deutsche Telekom

A sale of T-Mobile's tower system could net parent company Deutsche Telekom as much as $3 billion in an auction. According to Macquarie analyst Kevin Smithen, American Tower Corp., Crown Castle International Corp. and SBA Communications Corp are all interested in the towers. The analyst estimates that the towers could fetch $2.25 billion although competitive bidding could bring the price to as much as $3 billion. T-Mobile is looking to sell the towers to fund the purchase of additional spectrum, and an LTE network and to sign Prince Fielder according to Deutsche Telekom's CFO Timotheus Hoettges. The carrier would then lease back the same towers from the company that buys them.

The 7,500 cell towers owned by T-Mobile is the largest number of such towers currently up for sale. Sprint did a sale-leaseback three years ago when it sold 3,080 towers to TowerCo for $680 million. Sprint used the proceeds to reduce debt. Thanks to the leaseback arrangement, T-Mobile will not be losing any tower space nor will it lose any areas of coverage.

Nokia Lumia 710 Appears On T-Mobile’s Website

The Nokia Lumia 710 is Nokia’s first Windows Phone smartphone to launch in the US, and it would appear that the device is getting closer to release as it has now been listed on the T-Mobile website. Although T-Mobile haven’t listed an exact launch date as yet, as it is just listed as coming soon on their website, and the handset will be available for $50 after rebates when you sign up to a new two year contract.

As a reminder, the T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 800 features a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display with an 800 x 480- pixel resolution, there is also 8GB of built in storage and a single core 1.4GHz processor, plus Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Other specifications include 512MB of RAM, plus a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and it can record HD video in 720p there is also a 1,300 mAh battery and it comes with Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a micro USB port.

T-Mobile G2x Gingerbread update goes live again, HTC Radar 4G and HD7 get software patches too

If you are holding on to a T-Mobile G2x and you somehow still have Froyo running on it, the carrier is now giving you another chance at getting updated to Gingerbread over-the-air. And it is not that the software update, which rolled out back in July, was unsuccessful or anything, but there seem to be people who either missed it or purchased the smartphone after the update had completed. Besides bringing the phone's Android version to 2.3, the update takes care of those pesky unexpected reboots and improves battery life. It also addresses the front-facing camera issues, which occur when using Qik, and improves disabling of Car Home.

But the T-Mobile G2x may not be the only smartphone that the carrier will be updating this week. The HTC Radar 4G and HD7, which both run Windows Phone, are expected to receive software updates as well, if a recent leak is to be trusted.

It is said that the new software will bring Wi-Fi sharing to the HTC HD7 and will allow it to connect to hidden Wi-Fi networks, while the Radar 4G will be given the ability to download and customize ringtones. Besides, both smartphones will have their visual voicemail issues resolved. The new software is supposed to become available today, so if you happen to own either the Radar 4G or the HD7, feel free to hook it up to your PC, launch Zune, and get updated.

The new T-Mobile G2x cell phone is now on sale for $199.99 with 2 year contract. Full retail price is just $499. That’s cheaper than the Nexus One/S. Most people will go for the contract not because its cheap but because either they don’t have $499 to spend on a phone or are not willing to pay that much at a go. The phone is great, Dual core has arrived, it has an HDMI port at the top of the phone. So enticing.

With that being said, having UMA is pretty much carrier specific and T-Mo’s really good in that regard. There are quite a few current Android handsets that have wi-fi calling. . T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G now on Sale

The new T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G cell phone is now on sale for $259.99 with 2-Year contract. As for the Amaze it’s a bulkier, heavier version of the Sensation with more Ram and internal memory (And a few more camera specs). The Galaxy S II headed to T-Mobile is coming up next, it is a great phone too and build quality is much better than the original S but they’ve kept that lightweight and almost cheap feeling, but it doesn’t feel cheap by any means. I’m really looking forward to this phone. And while I’ve been very happy with the performance, the aesthetics and build quality are lacking. I’m excited to get a sexier, better built, and heavier phone in my paws.

Everything Everywhere announces shared 3G with Orange and T-Mobile

The "big switch-on" from Everything Everywhere is continuing for UK customers. Everything Everywhere is the parent company of both Orange and T-Mobile, and is also the largest communications company in the UK. The company had begun the "big switch-on" last year by allowing Orange and T-Mobile customers to use each other's 2G networks, and now has announced that sharing will extend to 3G networks as well.

The roll-out will begin next week and continue for a few months. Eventually, all 27 million Orange and T-Mobile customers in the UK will be able to use each other's 3G networks to make roaming easier, better covered, and less expensive.

Bobsled by T-Mobile adds free calling to mobile and landlines, Android and iOS apps launched as well

Once, it was just a humble Facebook application that allowed you to call your online buddies. Now, however, Bobsled by T-Mobile has been taken to the next level and has a few more tricks up its sleeve.

Effective immediately, the VoIP service by T-Mobile allows you to make free voice calls to mobile and landlines across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. All you really need is a computer with a web browser and an internet connection.

Besides, Bobsled by T-Mobile is now available on Android and iOS devices. Dedicated applications can be found on both the Android Market and the App Store, and once you have them set up you can chit chat all you want with your friends over at Facebook. However, bear in mind that the aforementioned free calls are a perk limited to the web browser version of the service.
