iPhone Latch & Lanyard, Supports Your iPhone While Capturing Movies And Photos

A new iPhone Latch & Lanyard concept designed to be used with the Gymbl Case is currently over on the Kickstarter website looking to make the jump from concept to production, and has been designed to help you take iPhone photographs with ease. We have featured a number of different solutions here on Geeky Gadgets that have been designed to aid stability and help you hold and control your iPhone movement when taking photographs. But none have been as small or as convenient as the iPhone Latch & Lanyard concept. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action. Gordon Fowler explains a little more about his concept.

“Held taut against your neck, the iPhone is steady when taking photos and when capturing video you can hold it steady or swing it through a smooth and graceful arc. You will be surprised by how much of a difference it makes. It’s also amazing how natural and secure it feels to do this with one thumb steadying the camera while the other is over the shutter and adjusting the settings. It works both left- and right-handed and in portrait as well as landscape mode.”

The iPhone Latch & Lanyard concept is now looking to raise $20,000 to help get the concept into production, so if you think its something you would use make a pledge for $15 to make sure you have one once it goes into production at the special Kickstarter introductory offer price.

Gizmon iCA Classic Camera iPhone Case

With a similar design to cameras created a few decades ago, the folks at Gizmon have rolled out a stylish iPhone accessory that brings an old school look to the modern smartphone.

While the majority of third party iPhone cases are simple plastic shells, the Gizmon iCA was created to appeal to photographers that are bored with the current design of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Built with 32 different polycarbonate parts, the iPhone is enclosed in a case that’s somewhat similar in design to the recently released Fujifilm X100 or classic Leicas. The case includes an optical viewfinder, a shutter button that’s compatible with iPhones upgraded to iOS 5, a micro hot shoe to attach an external flash and a mock lens in the middle of the case with a mirror for self-portraits. The case also has a mount for a mini tripod when taking timed shots.

At the corner of the case, the Gizmon iCA includes a conversion lens mount to attach an alternate lens for taking different types of shots. Attached over the actual iPhone camera lens, users can use a fisheye lens, telephoto lens, wide angle lens, macro lens and a variety of filters. Other accessories that can be used with the case include a remote shutter control, a thin mock lens that’s helpful for fitting the case in a pocket, a leather case for the exterior of the casing and a car accessory stand for using the iPhone while driving. There’s also two strap holes on the camera case to wear the iPhone around the neck like an actual camera. The company recommends a handful of apps to use with the case, but any photography application will work including the standard iPhone camera application.

The Gizmon iCA is designed in white, black and orange colors. However, it is quite expensive compared to other iPhone cases. For instance, the base model of the Gizmon iCA sells for $65.00 at the Four Corner Store with straps for $30 and a new lens priced at $45. However, the cost of this unique iPhone case may drop as more North American retailers start to carry the recently created Gizmon iCA.

iPhone 4S 8 Megapixel Camera Was Made By Sony

The iPhone 4S features a new 8 megapixel camera, we have already seen some sample photos that we took with the iPhone 4S camera, and then we showed you a full HD video recorded with the iPhone 4S camera. Now we have some more details on the camera inside the iPhone 4S, and it would appear that it has been made for Apple by Sony, according to a recent report from the guys over at Chipworks.

In order to get our readers the device manufacturer as soon as possible, rather than going through a fuming sulfuric acid chip deprocessing we chose to use our infrared microscope to look through the structure of this image sensor. What you see are the die markings on the base layer of the image sensor. The image isn’t beautiful, but it’s enough to tell us that Sony is in our particular iPhone 4S. Sony had been rumored to be the company who were producing the camera for the next generation iPhone for some time, and it would explain why the camera in the iPhone 4S is so good, as Sony’s own smartphone cameras also produce excellent results.
